Hey, guys, this is the first installment of my upcoming series of blogs about strap on play. Every other week, I’ll put up a new blog about strap on sex. (In the other, in-between weeks, we’ll be talking about body worship, yay!) But today’s blog is about how to prepare for your first strap on session. But even if this isn’t your first rodeo, you might learn something interesting, so I invite you to keep reading!

Gathering Your Materials For Strap On Play

Of course, the most important thing to have when preparing for strap on play is a willing partner. Everything else can be taken care of easily. But if you’re planning on playing with me, you know you have a willing partner because I am pretty much the Queen of all Butt Stuff.

After the partner aspect is taken care of, you’ll need to gather your materials. At barest minimum, this means you need a strap on harness, a dildo to fit it, and some quality lube. You may also want to get some nitrile gloves and perhaps a butt plug for anal training purposes (although you can easily use the harness dildo for this as well).

Strap On Harnesses

Strap on harnesses are usually made of either leather or nylon. Nylon is cheaper and stronger, but does not stretch, while leather gives a more “fetishy” appearance to the harness and is also a little stretchier. I actually have one of each, personally, in different styles. I recommend the nylon one to beginners, especially if you’re not sure you’ll use it often. Some of the fancy leather ones can be rather pricy, and there’s no point in spending a lot of money on something you don’t use that much.

There are also different styles of strap on harnesses. There’s the panty style, which I have personally never had any experience with, so I can’t tell you much about those, unfortunately. There’s also the single-strap style, which has one single strap that goes up between the legs and attaches in the back, much like a thong or a g-string. My leather harness is this style. It’s fairly easy to wear, but the location of the strap does rule out pussy/ass worship while the user is wearing it. The double strap style, which has two straps that go to either side of the genital area and fasten in the back, on the other hand, does not have this drawback. It leaves that area open for business. 🙂

Some Pegging Dildo Considerations

When searching for a dildo for strap on play (also known as pegging), it’s important to get one that’s safe, properly sized, and fits the harness and also won’t cause any kind of irritation of the skin. For the love of God, y’all, don’t buy one of those cheap jelly ones. Those things are the Devil. They break down, and they often cause skin irritation because they’re made out of God knows what. So love yourself and buy silicone.

Silicone is the ideal material for a pegging dildo because it is biologically inert. That means it doesn’t cause any allergic reactions or skin irritations. It also doesn’t taste weird when you’re using it for cocksucking play.

Finally, please be realistic about what size you can handle for your first time. In fantasy world, of course, you can take a twelve inch dick on your first try. In real life, not so much. As a matter of fact, this strap on harness dildo is the most popular one in my collection of harness dildos. Why? Because it’s a realistic size. It’s also curved for prostate stimulation. 🙂

Lube For Strap On Sex

And now, that brings us to lube. You can use water-based or oil-based lube with a silicone dildo. Water-based is the best option if you’re using a condom or if you’re planning on doing some vaginal sex later, as oil-based lubes will break down condoms and can also cause vaginal infections. Oil-based, however, is ideal if you’re not using a condom and only using your lube for anal. The skin often soaks up water-based lube, meaning you have to stop and reapply it regularly. Oil-based lube, however, sits on top of the skin and doesn’t soak in, so you don’t have that problem.

Silicone-based lube is also a possibility if you’re not using a silicone dildo. Do not make the mistake I made and say, “How bad could it be?” and put silicone lube on your silicone dildo. The answer is, it can be very bad, lol. The silicone lube adheres to the silicone dildo and only comes off if you’re lucky. I don’t understand the chemistry behind it, but just don’t try it. It only makes a mess.
