Hey, guys, I’ve been thinking a lot about spanking lately, so I decided I’d share my thoughts with y’all. Spanking is another one of those things that I find people either love or hate, with very little room in between. So which camp do you fall into?
As you have probably guessed, I fall into the former one. Spanking and impact play are lots of fun to me, and I like to use them whenever I can. Of course, if you’re not into these things, I probably won’t bring them into our playtime because if we’re not both enjoying it, what’s the point? But if you *are* into them, then it’s something I’ll very happily incorporate into our session.
What’s The Difference In Spanking & Impact Play?
So let’s tackle the obvious question first, shall we? You saw me mention both spanking and impact play above, as if they were separate things. So what’s the difference between the two?
Well, the truth is, different people draw the line in different places. But most agree that impact play is the larger umbrella that spanking fits under. If you want my personal definition, I would say that impact play is anything that uses an implement–like a riding crop, a ruler, a flogger, etc.–with which to whack a body part. Spanking is a type of impact play that uses only one’s hand to do the whacking. Everything else counts as impact play. But like I said, people define those terms differently, so when you’re talking to a Femdom Mistress about those things, make sure you and her are on the same page.
Punishment Vs. Funishment
Another term that often comes up when you’re discussing spanking and impact play is corporal punishment. Corporal punishment is a form of punishment that involves being whacked with a hand or an implement.
Personally, I don’t enjoy spanking/impact play as punishment. For me, spanking and impact play are something you do for fun or as a reward for a painslut. I don’t like crossing funtimes with punishment because, in my opinion, if a sub does something that warrants a punishment, then that speaks of a greater breakdown in communication or the dynamic itself, and that’s not something you can solve by whacking them in the ass with something.
That being said, “funishment” is something else altogether. If a sub seems to be in the mood for a spanking, I’m certainly not above asking them if they’ve been a bad boy/girl/nonbinary person and listening to them rattle off a list of supposed transgressions that I can then “funish” them for. Where punishment is a serious matter, funishment is simply a form of theater, a domination roleplay that both people can enjoy.
The Implements Of Impact Play
Now, let’s talk equipment. Impact play involves implements, as I mentioned above. What are your favorite types of things to be funished with?
I’m going to offer you a peek into my toybox right now! I have quite a number of impact play toys, and I would love to share them with you. Currently, I have a black leather flogger, a red-and-black suede flogger, a riding crop, a bullwhip, a dressage whip, a leather paddle, a hairbrush, a ruler, a wooden spoon, and a purple fiberglass cane. Some things I don’t have that I would like to have include a pair of vampire gloves, a couple of differently-sized paddles made of materials other than leather, and a rattan cane.
